N-340 Improvements

Anybody travelling between La Herradura and Almuñecar will have noted road workers laying tarmac and other improvements.
The other improvements in question being stabilization work, which can be seen going on below the road, beside the main junction – there has been a boring machine that has been sinking horizontal piles to stabilize the road bank.

Politicians’ Salaries Criticised

The IU councillor in the Almuñécar Town Council has called for the Mayoress, Trinidad Herrera, and chief opposition councillor (ex-mayor), Juan Carlos Benavides to take pay cuts. The IU councillor, Fermín Tejero, who called for this, rejected a salary upon taking up his post.

Chilean Winner for Segovia 1st Prize

The 31-year-old, Chilean competitor, Renato Serrano Muñoz took the top prize at the annual classical-guitar competition in La Herradura, as well as the special prize, Leo Brouwer, which is awarded for the best rendition of the Dos Cantares piece by Antón García Abril.
