Double Whammy

The Motril law court has sentenced a resident of Granada to 22 months in prison and ordered him to pay compensation of 749 euros after he left a hotel in Calahonda without paying after staying there for a month. He even made good use of their catering facilities.

Salobreña Cemetery Scandal

The Public Prosecutor for Granada is recommending 5-year, 6-month jail sentence for a town-hall assistant clerk in dealings with the municipal cemetery. He also recommends the same quantity of time being barred from holding public employment and a 7,560-euro fine.

New Fiscal Fraud Laws

On October 29th 2012, the Spanish parliament approved Law 7/2012 with the object of fighting fiscal crime. It is a mixture of new and the modification of the previous law. It is hoped that it will curb several categories of fiscal crimes.

Slippery Chairman

An ex-chairman of the Urbanización Capistrano Playa de Nerja, (2006 to 2009) is serving time after being handed down a 4-year prison sentence for fraud, as part of a plea deal with the Public Prosecutor and private prosecution (Comunidad de Vecinos de Capistrano Playa).
