Castell Chiringuito Fire

Castell de Ferro’s Chiringuito Bajamare was completely gutted by fire. According o the Mayor, Eloy Marín, said that there had been a previous attempt to torch the chiringuito on Playa Cambriles, but which the Motril Fire Service had managed to put out before it could do much damage.

EU Sinks Motril Fishermen

On the 18th of October, the moratorium expires which closed off the fishing grounds, but coupled to this date is the EU fishery requirement that the fishermen change the type of nets that they use – an economical impossibility.

Elderly Made Homeless?

It appears that the Motril Town Hall owes 30,000 euros in back rent for a residence for the elderly – the landlord has threatened to evict the 350 elderly residents.

Red Cross Over Stretched

La Cruz Roja has put out a call for help to deal with ‘an avalanche of poverty on the Costa Tropical. This organisation already provides supplies and help for 5,000 families in need and now finds itself overwhelmed and in need of funds.

Undercover Strike?
