The Mayor of Almuñécar, Trinidad Herrera, passed on her concerns to the Central & Regional Governments over the unstable state of the hillside on which Carmenes del Mar sits.
The Mayor, accompanied by the Councillor for Urban Development, José Manuel Fernández, met in Granada with a Central Government sub-delegate, Santiago Pérez, and a delegate from the Junta de Andalucía, María José Sánchez, to discuss the urbanización and the Cerro Gordo hillside; especially the condition of some of the badly damaged houses there, thanks to earth slips.
Several weeks previous to the meeting, the Junta received surveyor reports as well as legal reports from the municipal Judicial Department.
Nothing, however, appears to have come from this meeting, other than the regional and national-level politicians taking note of the Town Council’s concern.
Readers should not read into this that something has occurred, but only that the Town Hall is trying to get the other authorities involved in finding a solution.
