Rage over Algarrobico Verdict

The ecologist groups and several protest groups are not taking the Andalusia Supreme Court’s sentence lying down; a sentence that declared the hotel as having been erected on building land.

The surprising Regional-High-Court verdict on the controversial hotel on Algarrobico beach in Almería has left nobody unmoved. The High Court found that the hotel was erected on land that was legally apt for development.

The Junta de Andalucia has just issued a decree that effectively makes the first 500 metres of coastline a no-build zone, for the moment.

Expensive Demolition

The Junta de Andalucia now knows how much it will cost to demolish the controversial, macro-hotel, Hotel Azata, which was built on protected land on Playa Algarrobico in Carboneras, Almería – seven million euros!
