The Nerja Branch greatly appreciate the generous support shown by the management and clients of the bars and restaurants in Nerja.

The RBL, Nerja

The Royal British Legion will be celebrating Queen’s Jubilee Celebration with a Garden Party at The Nerja Club Hotel on Saturday, 2nd June 2012 3.30pm. Ten euros includes sandwiches, cakes & Cava. There will also be a Grand Raffle with Live Music!

NADFAS lecture, Nerja

The Benin Bronzes are a collection of more than 1,000 brass plaques from the royal palace of the Kingdom of Benin. They were seized by a British force in the punitive expedition of 1897 and given to the British Foreign Office. Around 200 of these were then passed on to the British Museum in London, while the remainder were divided between a variety of collections.

HMS Ledbury Visit

Members and guests of Almuñecar Branch of the Royal Naval Association recently had the opportunity to visit a Royal Navy vessel, HMS Ledbury, while she was alongside in Málaga. The ship, which is also the oldest in the RN at 31, also has the dubious honour of being the first RN ship to deploy during 2012, having left Portsmouth in early January.

RBL Sponsored Walk

On Wednesday 14th March our Branch Treasurer, Dave Graves, completed a marathon sponsored walk on behalf of the RBL Poppy Appeal. His route covered just over 30 kilometres of mountainous terrain, starting at Venta de Palma (700m) (Cómpeta), up to Puerto Collado,(890 m) then further up behind the fire watch station, reaching a height of 1164m – considerably higher than Mount Snowdon in Wales!

NAFAS Lecture for April

On Tuesday 10th April, there will be a NADFAS lecture presented by Anne Sebba BA (Hons), entitled The Dollar Princesses: American women who married into the European aristocracy and whose wealth helped preserve houses and estates.
