Nerja DFAS (Part of The National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Societies) meets each 2nd Tuesday of the month between October & May at the Cultural Centre (Casa Cultura), Calle Granada, Nerja at 6pm.

Nadfas December Events

The will be a NADFAS lecture on the 11th of December, starting at 18.00h, at the Cultural Centre (Casa Cultura), Calle Granada in Nerja, followed by Christmas Dinner afterwards at Restaurant First, Nerja

The next Nerja Nadfas lecture will be held onTuesday the 9th October and will be given my Joanna Hardy and entitled, Jewels that catch an expert’s eye.

NADFAS lecture, Nerja

The Benin Bronzes are a collection of more than 1,000 brass plaques from the royal palace of the Kingdom of Benin. They were seized by a British force in the punitive expedition of 1897 and given to the British Foreign Office. Around 200 of these were then passed on to the British Museum in London, while the remainder were divided between a variety of collections.

NAFAS Lecture for April

On Tuesday 10th April, there will be a NADFAS lecture presented by Anne Sebba BA (Hons), entitled The Dollar Princesses: American women who married into the European aristocracy and whose wealth helped preserve houses and estates.

Two Nadfas Lectures for March

Nadfas has two lectures lined up for March. One concerns the varied architecture of Cuba and the other will be given on the Spanish painter, Joaquin Sorolla.

Monsters, Vampires and the Gothic Imagination

The date is June 18th, 1816; the venue is the Villa Diodati beside Lake Geneva and the dramatic Jura mountain range. Byron’s guests are his secretary Dr Polidori and Percy Bysshe and Mary Shelley. Outside, the rain is beating down and thunder and lightning flash across the lake from the mountains.
