The Motril law courts have just found a volunteer from the Proteccion Civil guilty of retaining a parcel of drugs that he had found floating in the water off a beach. He was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment, which is suspended.
Pepino Problems

It was last year, we believe, that anybody passing the Carchuna beach would have seen hundreds of metres of cucumber mounds, rotting. The reason was that there had been a glut and it was cheaper to dump them rather than sell them at below-production prices.
This year the sector is beset by the same problem and the local cucumber farmers were talking of dumping the whole crop again.

The other improvements in question being stabilization work, which can be seen going on below the road, beside the main junction – there has been a boring machine that has been sinking horizontal piles to stabilize the road bank.

The whole point of poaching is to hunt undetected; to avoid being seen, so you would think that travelling on a bus with 140 dead birds was a touch conspicuous. Well, one 31-year-old man from Arjonilla, Jaén, didn’t think so.
