Salobreña Cuts Back

Whilst the governing parties in many towns in Spain have announced that the mayor and councillors will give up their Christmas bonus, the Town Hall of Salobreña wants to go a step further and cut the funds that political parties receive from the municipal coffers, which in this case adds up to 21,700 euros.

Three Rescued Along Río Chillar

Members of the Protección Civil de Nerja rescued two women and a man who had managed to get lost in the El Canal area of Río Chillar. El Canal is similar to La Junta de los Ríos (Otíva) in its steep-side gully characteristics.

Funkdación Fills Altillo

Granada-based funk band, Funkdación, filled the Paseo del Altillo this weekend past with their repertoire of Jazz-Funk-Soul. The group, whose lead singer is American Damon Robinson, also comprises of Andrew Lynch (Sax), David Margam (Guitar), Fran Romero (Drums), Emilio Berrocal (Keyboards) and Alfonso Alcalá (Bass).

Fined for Collecting Pine Cones

The Town Hall in Zamora has taken legal action against a father and his son, resulting in their having to pay 1,215 euros. The reason? For collecting pine cones from the León Felipe park, because the ‘pine cones belong to the Town Hall.”

Fashionable Accusation?

The Archbishop of Granada has issued a communiqué stating that he has carried out an immediate suspension of a deacon who has been accused of raping a youth. The suspension covers carrying out any form of ministry.
