Did everybody see the spectacular Infoca operation in La Herradura bay on the 19th of August, with the aircraft swooping in and picking up huge amounts of seawater? Well if you did, you were luckier than me… as when my ‘spy’ rang me, I was stuck in an August bank queue in Almuñécar, from which there is no escape other than the dim hope of quick service or death.
Infoca explained that this was only an exercise to keep the pilot and crew up to speed and ready to fight any fires that, as we all know, can spring up and spread quicker than the panic about Swine Flu.
Exercise or not, it was a demonstration of flying skill that was much appreciated by onlookers on the beach who had a free display whilst enjoying a day out on the beach.
