There was an unusual, fatal accident involving a motorbike in Gualchos on Thursday after the vehicle collided with a mountain goat that wandered onto the road.

The 51-year-old, male rider was killed and the 60-year-old, female pillion passenger was injured – there’s no information on how the goat fared, but it would be safe to suppose that it didn’t end well for it.
Now, the municipality of Gualchos includes Castell de Ferro on the coast, so when we say that accident occurred on the N-340, this will make more sense, taking that into account.
The winding section of the road between Calahonda and Castell is very much favoured by bike riders, both because of the pronounced bends and because of the spectacular cliff views. The road does border with the hillside and open countryside as can be seen in the accompanying photograph.
Anyway, 112 received a call and a Guardia Civil patrol was immediately dispatched together with a 061 ambulance to the scene of the accident near kilometre point 347 (See kilometre marker in the image).
Nothing could be done for the man who died almost immediately following the collision but the injured women was taken to Hospital Santa Ana.
