The Mayor of Salobreña, Javier Ortega, has once again complained about acts of vandalism around the town, aimed at street furniture.

As well as lampposts being pushed over, graffiti has appeared on park benches, street signs have gone missing and convex mirrors on street junctions to improve visibility have been smashed.

The acts of vandalism, which have been occurring especially on weekends, are not only an inconvenience for residents and visitors alike, but are also a drain on the municipal coffers.

For this reason the Mayor pointed out, “These vandalic acts not only cause an expense to the municipal coffers, but also deteriorate the town’s image, for which reason I call upon you for your collaboration to help stamp it out by reporting people acting in this way.”

He also announced increased police presence around town.
