A woman in her mid 60s was arrested at the Almuñécar bus station, suspected of drug trafficking after finding over 600 grammes of hashish in a package.

The Guardia Civil were carrying out an inspection of the vehicle and passengers around 11.00h on Saturday the 12th. The Guardia Civil often carry out such searches at bus and train stations, just as their Traffic Police officers carry out spot checks on the nation’s roads.

On the day of the arrest of the 65-year-old woman, the officers were using sniffer dogs trained to detect the presence of drugs. If you’re interested, they are called Boogui and Ona.

It was Boogui who raised a canine eyebrow at the package that the woman had at her feet. The officers raised their eyebrows in turn and decided to have a closer look. Inside they found six smaller packages of hashish totalling 626 grammes.

Then the officers, two dogs and the woman went for a walk to the Guardia Civil post. OK, so they drove there but the dogs would have loved the walk, wouldn’t they?
