The Guardia Civil based in Motril rescued a woman who had fallen into a deep, rain culvert in the dark along the A-44 autovía after her car broke down.
She and her husband had decided to walk along the hard shoulder to look for a kilometre marker in order to explain to the emergency coordination centre, 112. where they had broken down.
It was a Traffic Police patrol on night duty that was waved down by the husband who was back next to a stationary car. The husband explained how she had disappear down a hole, some three metres deep, which neither of them had seen in the dark.
The officers immediately radioed for an ambulance and the fire service. The fire personnel managed to get her out and the ambulance took her straight away to the Hospital de Traumatología in Granada in an “unstable condition.”
