The Guardia Civil ln Granada arrested a man in his mid 30s, suspected of having deliberately set fire to a recycling rubbish hopper for paper & carboad in Padul, in the Valle de Lecrín.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the 29th of July when the 34-year-old suspect allegedly destroyed the metal container, which had a value of 1,814 euros.

The Guardia Civil based in Las Gabias were called out and put in charge of the investigation into this act of arson, in order to identify the culprit behind it.

Thanks to footage from a CCTV camera in a nearby business premises, they were able to do this, establishing that the suspect had driven to Padul in a hired car.

The suspect already has a criminal record for crimes of a similar nature.
