Gas Explosion in Salobreña

A butane-bottle explosion (una bombona) in Salobreña yesterday resulted in a woman suffering extensive burns to 20% of her body.

The incident occurred around 16.00h, Saturday the 8th on Calle Jardines and the Motril Fire Department, together with the Guardia Civil, Policía Local and a 061 ambulance were immediately despatched.

The injured woman was medivacked by an air-ambulance helicopter diretly to the Andalucía’s top hospita specialised in burns, which is in Sevilla.

Although many residents in the block of flats ran out into the street in panic, no fire followed the explosion and there was no temporary evacuation of residents carried out.
