A cabin cruiser ran aground Tuesday afternoon on Playa de Ferrara, in Torrox Costa, after it broke free from the bouy it was anchored to, next to the market-out entrance channel to the beach .

The westerly wind ended up pushing the boat onto the beach. Early the next morning, the boat still stranded on beached partially submerged by the running surf.
The vessel belongs to a company dedicated to organising coastal trips, renting out jet-skis, kayaks and paddle surfboards. The person in charge is a businessman from Nerja who was at the scene trying to recover the boat.
Obviously, it attracted a lot of attention from beach users and one large group of individuals even tried to get the cabin cruiser back out to sea, without success, risking physical injuries or worse.
Sources from the Torrox Town Hall explained that beach rescue and lifeguard service also tried to help the owner. The manoeuver was made impossible by the heavy weight of the vessel, the continuous pounding of the waves, and the shallow depth near the shore.
Wednesday evening they were preparing it to be towed off the beach – The owner was busy trying to pump out all the water that had entered overnight.
The cabin cruiser is based in the Caleta de Vélez marina, although on occasionaly it is also kept in a shipyard in Nerja.
This is not the first time a yacht or cabin cruiser has been swept onto a beach or rocks. The most recent incident was the on the 31st of May on Playa Los Rubios, in Torre de Benagalbón, where a sailboat was pushed onto the sand by strong waves. Readers might also recall the incident a couple of years ago in La Herradura in May 2024, or when a motor cruiser came aground in Carchuna in February 2022, or when a yacht was washed up onto a beach in La Rábita,
