Dúrcal residents were very surprised to find out that somebody had attacked someone else with a chainsaw – visions of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre spring to mind, although it wasn’t that dramatic.

Well, actually, it was a tad dramatic for the victim because he suffered deep cuts to his hand and on his chest, requiring his swift transfer to the hospital PTS in Granada.

This attack occurred on the 23rd of July around 19.30h.

The Guardia Civil rapidly sent a special patrol from the city of Granada, backed, by units from Armilla. When they got there they found the victim looking like he had had a fight with a roll of razor wire.

Armed with a description, the officers set off in search of the aggressor, who is a bad lad known to the police. He was found in the town park without the chainsaw, which the police later found in a cortijo owned by his family.

The arrested man appeared before a police court the next day and was remanded in custody in the provincial prison in Albolote.
