On Wednesday the 17th of last month, Dúrcal’s Plaza de España became an open-air art gallery, thanks to the IES Alonso Cano Arts Encounter.

As it’s name suggest (IES) this is a high-school initiative that allows students to share their work created throughout the school year with a public showing. 

The exhibition comprised of nearly 30 sketches from all high-school levels; from ESO1 to  BUP2, so we’re talking about 11/12-year olds to 17/18-year olds.

Obviously, the Fine Arts teacher is chuffed, as it motivates his pupils, as well as shows the progress from skills aquired as they work their way through high school.

As for the general public, there was a good turn-out and congratulations were given to all of the budding artists. As the Fine Arts teacher pointed out, “It is a way for locals to see what the pupils do at the high school, because often that work is not so visible; taking it out onto the streets is a way to put it on public display.”
