Almuñécar's Municipal Sports Department organised a successful hiking day-out to the Sierra Nevada as part of its 2026 Hiking Programme.
A total of 50 hikers participated on this 14-kilometre, medium-difficulty, route passing through many emblematic spots within this natural park:

Hikers visited: Hoya de la Mora, the Montebajo ski lift, Río Dílar, Chorreras del Molinillo, Barranco del Misterio, El Lagunillo, Loma de En Medio, Lagunillas de la Virgen, Collado de las Yeguas, and the Virgen de las Nieves at the top of Sierra Nevada (See photo).
It’s still cold up there, even during the day, despite the fact that the thaw is in full swing, as can be seen from the coast.
This was the last hike before the Municipal Hiking Programme takes a break over the summer. The next scheduled hike will be on September the 20th.
However, registration remains open and can be completed in person at the Municipal Sports Stadium, from Monday to Thursday between 09:00h to 14:00h and 17:00h to 22:00h.
