Guardia Civil Celebrate Anniverary in Almuñécar

The Guardia Civil celebrated its 182nd anniversary (on a provincial scale) since it was founded on Almuñécar's Plaza de Abderramán I.

Multiple specialised Guardia-Civil units participated in the parade, including Traffic, Maritime, Air, K9, and Mountain-Rescue services.

The ceremony featured medal presentations, a tribute to fallen soldiers, the institutional anthem, and the aforementioned military parade.

To conclude, Commanding-Officer, Colonel Arteaga presented the Mayor with an official commemorative plaque. Mayor Ruiz Joya thanked the coordinated efforts of the Civil Guard, Local Police, Civil Protection, and the Red Cross for ensuring safety during this very large event.

Editorial comment: I have nothing but respect for the Guardia Civil, probably because it is a military unit originally and maintains a military force’s high discipline and professionability. They are very respectful when interacting with the general public and equally helpful if you have problems on the roads.

Enhorabuena y viva la Benemérita!
