Speeding Driver Caught

The Guardia Civil caught a driver doing nearly 190 kph on the A-7 in a section limited to 100 kph

This took place on the 18th of this month after the Guardia Civil traffic police had set up a speed trap on this stretch of autovía limited to 100 kph.

Consequently, the driver is charged with exceeding the speed limit by over 80 kph, which according to Articulo 379.1 del Código Penal is worth a prison sentence of between three and six months, a hefty fine and the loss of his driving licence between one and four years.

As an aside and before we forget, here’s a warning: the Guardia Civil are now using unmarked police bikes to catch speeders.

Editorial comment: having his vehicle crushed down to a cube measuring only one cubic metre would be more fitting, perhaps.
