Guardia Civil officers based in Motril nabbed two drivers caught driving at speeds of more than 80 km/h within the municipality over the established limit.
The first driver was caught on the 8th of last month speeding at 197 km/h in a 100 km/h zone of the A-7 autovía within the municipality of Motril – that’s the last stretch after the autovía access roundabout, heading down to the coast.
The following day a driver was caught travelling at 190 km/h along the same section.
In both cases, the drivers were stopped at the next roundabout junction, and told them, “You’re nicked, Son.” They were taken to the Guardia post in Motril and booked for contravening Article 379 of the Penal Law Code, which could mean criminal proceedings instead of an administrative fine and point loss.
Editorial comment: This dual-carriageway that links the N-340 coastal main road to the A-7 access roundabout is a favourite spot for a patrol car to hide amongst the bushes running down the side of the southbound lane.
