Nigüela’s Drowning

A man in Nigüelas lost his life on Saturday the 18th in an abseiling accident in the upper reaches of Río Torrrente in a barranco.

According to the emergency coordination centre, 112, they received a call around 14.15h to say a man had fallen into a steep-sided barranco and his companions couldn’t reach him to get him out of the water.

The Guardia Civil, mountain-rescue team (GREIM) was mobilised by helicopter but by the time that they could reach the victim there was nothing that they could do for him.

At the time of writing (Sunday 19th) there is no information available on the identity of the victim.
