Work on the North Building of Hospital Santa Ana in Motril is progressing, our politicians claim, although this project has been going on for literally years.
We reported on it in September 2020, as it was to replace a part of the hospital that had been demolished 14 years previously; i.e., twenty years ago.

Quoting from our article from over five years ago: “So, what will this addition, costing 6,674,336 euros, provide? Well, Edifício Norte, as it will be known, will be connected to the other two buildings and will mainly house the Radio-Diagnostic Department.
It will also be where the ‘command centre’ for the whole complex is housed, when the Personnel Department and Administration is relocated there. The company that provides the ambulances will also have their administrative offices in the new building.
As departments will be moving over, it also means that space will be freed up in the original building so that departments remaining there can expand.”
Back to nowadays, the Minister of Health for the Junta, Antonio Sanz, had a good nose around the construction work. He stated that work had begun March last year and will be completed… at the end of 2027.
The new wing has a total budget of 15.5m euros, which includes the equipment that will go into it… if it is ever finished. The budget back in 2020 was… 6,674,336 euros.
