The Euthanasia Case

The US far-right campaign to sow propaganda abroad is reaching new heights.

News sources in the US claim that the US Administration has contacted the Spanish Government over the Noelia Castillo’s euthanasia. The Ministry of Health denies this and states that it has not received any communication from Donald Trump’s government to investigate the case.

Yesterday, the New York Post (a conservative-leaning, populist tabloid) reported that the U.S. Embassy in Madrid has allegedly opened an investigation into the Government’s actions following the “repeated sexual assaults, including gang rapes,” that Castillo had suffered before her death. The U.S. reportedly considers that “lax Spanish migration legislation” could be the cause of the sexual assaults.

Minister of Health, Mónica García, responded that thousands of people die every year in the United States without health insurance, “while Trump supports and executes human rights violations between Gaza and Iran.”

“He [Trump] should stop feeding the international far-right agenda by sticking his nose everywhere. Spain is a serious country, with a solid healthcare system and a framework of rights that protects and cares for all people, including those who decide to ask for help to die with dignity in contexts regulated by law, evaluated by clinical committees, and endorsed by the courts,” responded the Head of Health on Twitter.

Likewise, García has defended over recent days that the current Euthanasia Law in Spain is guaranteed and that those who have requested to avail themselves of it have been able to exercise their right.

Editorial comment: America has gone completely off the rails and is determined to subvert European elections with far-right propaganda. For a full account of Noelia’s tragic life it is well worth visiting the wikipedia page on her.
