A Motril man has been found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

The incident took place in August, 2022 and the accused was finally brought to trial last month in the Granada Provincial Law Court.

The guilty man was tried for attempted murder, being illegally in possesion of a firearm and minor bodily harm. He received a relatively light sentence after attenuating circumstances put forward by his defence lawyer: mental disorder; i.e., not being in complete control of his mental faculties at the time of the incident.

Besides the jail term, he also has to pay a fine of 600 euros and 180 euros in compensation to the victim and will not be able to approach within 300 metres of the victim for four years.
