Well, tomorrow, Wednesday the 14th, they will be closing down the A-44 over Rules Reservoir again in order to continue work on the new support pillar.
This means that coming down from Granada, you have to come off the Autovía at the Ízbor (167) off-ramp and continue down via the N-323. You can get back on it by turning off at the Vélez de Benaudalla/Órgiva bridge-junction over Río Guadalfeo.

Coming up from the coast on the A-44, you’ll be diverted off at the Órgiva/Vélez de Benaudalla junction to continue on towards Granada via the poor, old, suffering, N-323.
Mind you that it won’t be for long because they will switch back on the 27th of February – they have to because it is a bankholiday (Día de Andalucia 28th). Which probably means will be closing off the autovía again afterwards.
During this closure they’ll be doing the tricky bit of lifting the road platform from Pillar Number 4 to then lower it onto the new pillar.
Editorial comment: have any of you noticed that when heading to Granada, at the other end of the bridge, there is an almight jolt waiting for you at the expansion joint. It’s bad enough in a car, but on a bike...
