A mother, with her two toddlers in her arms, jumped from a 10-storey window. The impact killed her but the children survived the fall although both very badly injured.

The two girls, both aged three, as they are twins, are in the ICU’s of Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre and the Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús in Madrid. One had landed on grass, the other on the pavement.

The incident occurred at 09.00h yesterday morning in the Ciudad Lineal district of Madrid on Calle Ricardo Ortiz.

The Policía Nacional are handling the investigation yet by the afternoon it was considered a closed case: she had decided to take her own life, taking with her her two toddlers. There had been no signs of violence, which, the police consider, rules out the involvement of a third party.

It is not known what was the situation of the relation between the 48-year old mother and the biological fatherr of the twins, and her neighbours confirm that they had never seen her in the company of a possible fatherly figure.
