The Guardia Civil recently gave a chat to elderly residents of La Herradura, both to point out pitfalls and to ensure a proper police response to their problems.

The said problems covered in this chat, entitled, Plan Mayor de Seguridad, which was held in the village’s Centro Cívico, was about muggings, break-ins and fraudsters.

In other words the two officers who had come down from the Granada, Guardia Civil HQ, warned about the sort of criminals who target the elderly, taking advantage of the victim’s frailties.

For these situations the officers gave advice on how to avoid such encounters and how to respond if they do fall prey to unscrupulous criminals.

Finally, they explained about the Alerta phone app used by the Guardia Civil and Policía Nacional, which can be downloaded and simplifies reporting incidents.
