The snow-grooming machinery was rolled out on Tuesday to form the snow that fell on Monday around 2,500 metres up.

The snow groomers are active in the Borreguiles area where the snow cannons were shooting out artificial snow all day yesterday.
The semi-public company that runs the ski station, Cetursa, said that work actually began with the snow cannons over the weekend after the Claudia Gale had passed bringing with it very low temperatures. It is hoped that this snow will become a good base for the coming months. The snow cannons will be active as long as these cold temperatures up on the Sierra Nevada persist.
It might not be very cold down on the coast, but a 2,000 metres up, brass monkeys will contract and iron balls will fall off! – it’s a long story but anybody familiar with naval history will understand the reference.
Cetursa is concentrating on creating a snow base using the cannons on the Zorro and Perdiz ski slopes, as these will be busy areas when skiiing commences.
The skiing season is set to begin on the 29th of this month, as long as the weather forecast holds true. The closure will be on the 28th of Apri; again, as long as there is still enough snow to ski up there.
