Motril Town Counci approved the Partial Plan for the SUS MOT-8 area of the municipality during the Plenary Meeting of the Town Council on the 31st of October.

The SUS MOT-8 will entail the building of almost 700 new homes, 30% of which will be Government Subsidised Housing (VPOs) for low-income families. The SUS MOT-8 area is very close to the town centre, effetively expanding it.

This development, ​approximately 20,000 sq/m, will incorporated another medium-sized commercial area that will act as an attraction, Mayor Luisa García Chamorro considers.

Mayor Chamorro said that the SUS MOT-8 would be “a benefit for the future and development of our city.” She also said that it would “encourage young people to remain in Motril by providing affordable housing.”

Councillor Escámez who is the Head of Urban Development Department, pointed out, “This sector will create a new parking area, something Motril often lacks,” along with “a significant expansion of our Pueblos de América park, one of the town’s green areas.”

So where is the MOT-8? It is next to the Parque Pueblos de América (where the tourist information office is)
