An elderly lady had a nasty fall last month in Dúrcal owing to having tripped over the protruding hinge on a metal cover set in the pavement.

The 83-year-old woman was accompanied by her middle-age daughter when she caught her foot on the hinge and plunged head first onto the marble step at the entrance to a house.

She took the blow on her face, breaking teeth and whacking her forehead. The daughter was distraught and the mother sitting on the ground dazed. Several people had gathered round to assist and the son-in-law was phoned to bring the car to Calle Moredas at the junction with Calle Blas Padial.

After first considering taking her to the nearby Centro de Salud, they decided to drive her directly to Granada’s PTS hospital.
