A young man who went missing on a jet ski on Monday off the coast of San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Islas Canarias) was found and rescued yesterday; alive but a little worse for wear.
It was an aircraft belonging to the Salvamento Marítimo that spotted him at 12.30h, some 15 nautical miles to the south east of Arguineguín.

The victim was able to wave to attract the attention of the crew, who radioed his location to a rescue launch.
A little after 13.38h, he was picked up and taken to the Puerto de Arguineguín where an ambulance awaited. Despite his 3-day ordeal, he was generally in good shape except for pains in his chest.
He had been out sailing with a group of friends on a small boat, which attempted to take a jet ski in tow just of the Central Térmica de Juan Grande. However, the line came loose so he dove into the water with the intention of climbing onto the jet ski and riding it back to the beach. His companions continued on their way to Las Palmas.
When he didn’t appear, they set out again in search of him but could find no trace of him so they phoned the Emergency Coordination Centre, 112, and a S&R operation was set up.
