Cleaning up Dog Urine

This week, Salobreña Town Council launched a special cleaning plan to remove dog urine, as well as other stains embedded in the pavement of the municipality's pavements.

Using vehicles with high-pressure hoses and detergents in the water, workers from the cleaning company Paprec started the campaign on the Plaza Juan Carlos I and its surroundings.

They’ll continue in the coming days in those streets where this problem is most pronounced, especially on building corners and street furniture.

The Councilor for Urban Quality, Luis Cano, said, “The main objective is to minimise the impact of dog urine on the environment, eliminating dirt and unpleasant smells on the streets, as well as to prevent the deterioration of street furniture, such as benches and traffic signs, since urine affects their structure.”

Therefore, dog owners are asked to carry small bottles of water and vinegar when walking their pets. This helps prevent unpleasant smells and stops other dogs from urinating in the same place, while the water helps prevent sidewalks from becoming dirty.

Finally, he pointed out that there are two dog parks within the municipality that have all the necessary equipment and services for dogs to enjoy.

Now that’s a job for life. Maybe attach a bin to the vehicle for dog poo. That lazy types do not wish to clear up themselves.
