Around the middle of last month, the Guardia Civil arrested two men, suspected of being behind a cortijo break-in within the municipality.
This was part of police operation ARRUA25 which had been investigating the break-in which took place on the 28th of August. As chance would have it, the police patrol was on its way to inspect the crime scene when they came across a crashed vehicle. Serendipity in the wings, Ladies and Gentlemen!
They stopped to assist in the road accident and found within the stricken car a good quantity of items that the two men, aged 26 and 38, could not legally account for. The men claimed that they had found them amongst abandoned rubbish. Not convinced, the officers confiscated the lot.
Subsequent investigation found that some of the confiscated items had been stolen from the said cortijo. As for the rest of the confiscated booty, the police are trying to locate its owners.
