It can get hot in a car in summer with no aircon, especially when it burst into flames, which is what happened on the A-44 yesterday morning.

This road incident began a little before 11.53h, which was the Emergency Coordination Centre, 112, started to receive a score of calls from motorists on the A-44 south-bound lanes, level with Nigüelas in the Valle de Lecrín.

The Guardia Civil Traffic Police and the Granada fire service were despatched with the latter putting the blaze out. Nobody had been hurt.

This car blaze near kilometre point 157 caused quite a traffic jam backing up to Padul that lasted an hour and a half from when the car went up. The driver managed to pull the car onto the hard shoulder as soon as smoke started appearing from under the bonnet.
