Two young men died in Motril in a road accident in the early hours of yesterday, both riding on the same motorbike.

It is not clear which of the two men in their early 20s was the riding and which was the passenger on the back, but what we do know is that for some reason they collided with the curb, throwing them both off.

This happened around three in the morning leading up to the Ron Montero roundabout, which is on the port road not far from the municipal swimming pool.

It appears that they were flung against the ornamentacíon pública, which is very vague but could be anything from a concrete flowerbed to a bench. Whatever it was that they hit, they were killed outright.

Mayor Luisa García Chamorro said that what happened was “tragic” and communicated her condolences to the families.

“There is no consolation for this loss; two young men with their whole life in front of them. There are no words to describe this,” she said.

Note: one sources puts them both at 21 years of age whilst another puts them at 20 and 21. Even the time of the accident is disputed as one source (Ideal) put it at 03.00h and Motrildigital puts it at 04.30h.
