The small mountain village of Carataunas in the Alpujarra Granadina suffered the loss of one of its inhabitants in a road accident.
The incident occurred around 16.45h on Sunday on the A-4132 near kilometre-point two, when the vehicle left the road and tumbled down a barranco.

The emergency coordination centre, 112, despatched the Cádiar fire service, which is quite some distance from the scene of the accident.
Upon arrival, fire personnel clambered down the side of the barranco to reach the vehicle. An ambulance waited up top but when they finally retrieved the body, the man was obviously dead (injuries incompatible with sustaining life).
