Rio Jate Pipe Laying

Almuñécar Councillor for Agriculture, Carlos Ferrón, announced that seven kilometres of 250mm PVC piping has been laid from the Herradura Water Treatment Plant up into the Hinterland.

In the following days, inspection manholes, drainage and valves (cut offs) will be added along the Camino de Río Jate and Camino de Cerval Alto, meaning that starting tomorrow traffic along these lanes can be restricted.

Councillor Ferrón explained, “Work will continue for the next three months, and there will be road closures that will be properly marked, to minimize disruption for residents.”

He went on with, “Most of the road will be narrowed down, but drivers can still use it if they drive with caution,” adding, “At specific times, when closing the lanes completely is required, alternative routes will be marked out.”

He concluded by apologising for the inconveniences caused but reminded residents of the area that they will be able to irrigate with recycled water from the treatment plant when its finished.
