There was a tragic accident in the Lecrin Valley after a lorry driver lost his life on a narrow country lane between Talará and the municipal cemetery near the mortuary.

The accident occurred around 19.15h on Tuesday resulting in the lorry falling down into a barranco and pinning the driver beneath it.

The emergency coordination centre (112) despatched the city of Granada fire service, the Guardia Civil and an ambulance to the scene of the accident.

Sources within the Guardia Civil confirmed that the 53-year-old driver had been trapped beneath the vehicle and that there was nothing that could be done from him.

Editorial comment: this lane eventually connects to Lanjarón after crossing over the Barranco de Tablate and descending.
