A man's life was save in the Alcampo supermarket in the city of Granada thanks to the rapid action taken by an off-duty nurse and security guards.
The man suffered a heart attack at 12.30h yesterday, according to the emergency coordination centre (112), who were alerted by the manager of the supermarket to say a man had fainted and was unconscious.

One of the security staff with 16 years’ experience and First-Aid training acted quickly, putting the man into the recovery position and clearing his air passages.
Fortunately, there was a male nurse shopping in the supermarket at the time who began CPR on the man, assisted by the security guard.
It took half an hour for the ambulance to arrive but thanks the the CPR applied and five discharges from the installation’s defibrillator, the patient’s pulse and breathing were kept going during this wait.
This is not the first time that a shopper’s life has been saved by the security personnel in this particular supermarket, as an elderly woman’s life was saved in January after she collapsed and lost consciousness from a heart attack there.
