There was an earth tremor up in the Baza area of the province of Granada early yesterday afternoon which was felt in the surrounding area.

This seismic activity occurred at 16.14h with the epicentre beneath Zújar. The seismic shock wave was also felt in Caniles and Baza.

According to the Instituto Geográfico Nacional the earth tremor had a magnitude of 2.8 on the Richter Scale at a depth of two kilometres.

The shallower the epicentre, the more it is felt on the surface, so that even a stronger seismic movement on the Richter Scale but at a greater depth might mean that it is felt less.
