Fly-Tipping Clean Up

The Urban Quality & Circular Economy Department at Salobreña Town Hall started a clean-up campaign last month to eliminate the ‘black spots’ in town and its surroundings where there has been fly tipping.

The said department has called upon residents to respect the bylaws, the infringement of which carries a 300-euro fine.

The company that holds the municipal-cleaning contract, Paprec, has been collecting up the discarded rubbish in inappropriate places around the municipality, consisting of old furniture, household items in general and building waste.

The said black spots are near the cemetery, where Calle Cristo meets Calle Juzgado, at the entrances to Lobres, Urbanización Alfamar and Urbanización Alimjares – we received a reader’s letter, complaining about the state of the latter.

The Councillor for the aforementioned department, Luis Cano, complained of the extra cost of having to clear up this unsightly mess.

He took the opportunity to remind residents that if they need to get rid of old furniture and other household items, they should contact the cleaning company so that it can be collected.

Alternatively, residents can take such waste directly to the Punto Límpio, which is next to Lobres’s old football ground and is open mornings and afternoons.
