Famiy and friends of missing Maro man, Miguel Ramírez Fortes, (known by his nickname, Luis el Reloj) organised a search yesterday afternoon, coordinated by the Guardia Civil.
The meet-up point was in the church square in Maro at 16.00h. Miguel, aged 66, had gone missing on the 29th of last month. He is described as 1.7m tall and slender in stature

Although Miguel suffers from Senile Dementia he does not need to take medicine as it is still mild. Furthermore, although Miguel lives in Nerja, not Maro, he was in Maro the day he disappeared visiting his son’s cortijo.
After that he left to catch a bus for Nerja but the bus driver, however, is certain that the missing man did not get on the bus.
Family and friends have put up posters with Miguel’s photo on them along the route between Nerja and Maro.
Around 60 volunteers turned out, along with 15 Guardia Civil officers. The volunteers were split up into groups, each headed by an officer. They were provided with an aerial map of the area and allocated and area marked off on the map. There were also members of Protección Civil.

They spent hours, searching all the way down to the cliffs area, ravines, plantations, etc but they didn’t find anything, unfortunately.
