The autopsy carried out on the 2-month-old baby in La Herradura has confirmed that it was a case of cot death.
This tragic incident occurred earlier in the month, with the emergency services receiving a call from the parents at 05.30h on Sunday the 16th.

Despite desperate efforts by first the parents and then paramedics using CPR procedure upon arrival, the baby could not be ressusicated.
The first hypothesis that this was a case of cot death proved to be the case; an autopsy is obligatory despite any obvious preliminary conclusion.
The municipal police, who were first at the scene and who also practiced First Aid, have expressed their most sincere condolences.
We originally reported on this death in La Herradura on the 18th.
Quoting from Wikepedia: Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), sometimes known as cot death or crib death, is the sudden unexplained death of a child of less than one year of age. Diagnosis requires that the death remain unexplained even after a thorough autopsy and detailed death-scene investigation. SIDS usually occurs during sleep. Typically death occurs between the hours of midnight and 09:00h. There is usually no noise or evidence of struggle. SIDS remains the leading cause of infant mortality in Western countries, constituting half of all post-neonatal deaths.
