Out They Come!

The Chairman of the Mancomunidad, Rafael Caballero, and the Mayor of Lentegí, Juan Manuel Arellano Fajardo, were out having an official gawk at one of the streets being ripped up.

Now, this wasn’t just some kind of infrastructure vandalism but serious work on the mains water and sewage-system pipes.

Chairman Caballero explained that his Mancomunidad was throwing nearly 40,000 euros at this renovation work, consisting of replacing old concrete pipes with wider PVC ones, which he says are “more durable, better at supporting pressure and are more respectful for the environment.”

He also said that his administration, through the water-utility company, Aguas y Servicios, would continue to cooperate with town halls in solving problems and improving the quality of life for their inhabitants.

Now this work in Lentegí is planned to take three weeks, which involves laying 90 metres of 315mm PVC pipe to handle sewage disposal.

As for the metal, water-mains pipes, they being replaced by high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with a diameter of 63mm.

Hi, Diane, you must have read the article seconds after it first went up when I mistakenly said that this was going on Jete – I changed it almost immediately to read “Lentegí.” It was a senior moment on my part. – Martin
