The police investigation began back in August after they received a complaint from the Colegio de Dentistas de Huelva, saying that a dental clinic in the city of Huelva could be carrying out dental treatment, surgery etc without having qualified as a dental surgeon; i.e. professional intrusion.
The police soon confirmed this suspicion. Furthermore patients that used this clinic confirmed that they had received treatment and had suffered malpractice.
According to the police, the owner closed the clinic down at the end of last year and moved to Motril, where she was tracked down to and arrested. Her case is being handled by the Juzgado de Instrucción número 5 de Huelva.
All dentists are required to produce their registration number as it is obligatory to be a member of the Colegio Oficial de Dentistas.
