Last night saw several acts of vandalism with cars and hopper bins being destroyed by fire in different areas of Almuñécar.

The municipal fire service was alerted to hopper fires by the rubbish-collection workers who found some of these rubbish containers ablaze.

Using the fire extinguishers in their lorry they had attempted to put them out but the flames were too intense.

This was the case on Calle Guadix, which runs down the side of Río Seco, and on the P-4 along the Calle Mariana Pineda. but it was not only hoppers either because street litter bins had also been targeted.

Furthermore, across from Hotel Playa Almuñécar on Calle Guadix, two car were damaged by the flames from burning hoppers, with the first one ending up completely burnt out. The one next to it was particially damaged, but probably still a write-off

The Guardia Civil are investigating these cases of arson.
