Pro-Israeli Lobby Appeals

The pro-Israeli lobby, Acción y Comunicación sobre Oriente Medio (Acom) has announced that it will appeal to a higher court against the provincial appeals court's findings against them.

They had taken the University of Granada to court after this academic entity decided to suspend all collaboration with Israeli universities and research centres following the actions of the IDF in Gaza. We reported on this on the Tuesday the 4th

ACOM issued a communiqué on stating that it would appeal before a higher court; the TSJA, as it considers that the findings were “Confused and based on UN decisions, divorced from the Spanish Legal System, demonstrating a profound lack of knowledge of international law on the part of the judge.”

ACOM believes that the judge’s decision “contradicts the MInistry of Prosecution’s conclusions that back ACOM’s stance, demostrating an infringement of fundamental rights.”

It goes on tyo say that “Judge Rafael Rodero Frías caved in to pressure from extremist and violent groups in Granada.”

This pro-Israel lobby had success in Cataluña last year, however, when a judge found against the City Council of Barcelona that voted to suspend all relations with Israel until a definitive ceasefire was declared.

Editorial comment: “OK, here goes… how the hell can this pro-Israeli lobby in Spain have the neck to accuse somebody else of extremists and violence after what the Israeli Government, dominated by religious extremists, has done in Gaza? How can ACOM have the nerve to mention International Law and Fundamental Rights after slaughtering over 40,000 civilians of whom at least 14,000 were minors. Since when have babies been terrorists?
